Hollywood Tower of Terror - Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios is one of Disney’s smallest and best theme parks. Located right at the heart of Disney the park has seen a great transformation over the years with new rides and shows being added. One of the main attractions to the park is the ride called the Hollywood Tower of Terror. The ride is normally the first thing you can see when visiting Disney as it stands some 13 stories high.
Located at the end of Hollywood Boulevard the ride is one of the most popular with all guests so can be very busy at peak times during the day. Normally as soon as the park opens a lot of people head towards that area of the park due to the other main attraction (Rockin Rollercoaster by Aerosmith) being located right next door. Generally wait times for the Tower of Terror are between 30 – 90 minutes (depending on the day and time of day). As a general rule of thumb the busiest times are normally around 12 – 2pm and between 5- 6 pm before the Fantasmic Show starts. The worst days to visit the ride is normally the weekend, where the locals visit the park. The quietest day normally being Monday.
Once in the Queue you wind up the garden to the entrance to the hotel, what Disney has done is to create a haunted hotel theme and you really feel like you are checking into a haunted hotel. The lobby is full of cobwebs and there is music playing with no one around, all very spooky indeed! You are invited to enter a room where the experience starts. You are given an introduction how the hotel has become haunted and then moved onto the basement where you wait to enter one of the service elevators.
Without spoiling the ride and experience you can sort of guess what is about to happen as you enter the lift and from the screams of other guests in the hotel, you have a rough idea your elevator might not make it to the 13th floor!
Over the Years the ride has been improved with extra special effects and more drops. This really does add to the ride as I have also ridden it in it’s old format. The new addition to the ride is people knowing how many drops you will do and how many floors you will actually drop. The ride is purely random in this regard, so each time you ride you might get a slightly different experience.
One thing is for sure the ride will give you a sinking feeling in your stomach (if you don’t like this you might not want to ride it) and checking out seems like a really good idea! All that’s left is for you to have a look at the photo of you and the other guests being dropped.
Overall this ride is one of the best Disney has to offer and it really has had a lot of money spent on it to give you a really great experience. One to definitely put on your to do list when visiting Florida.
