Highway 192 West – from Celebration to the 27
RESTAURANTS
Those of you familiar with the 192 will know that “Marker” signs appear at regular intervals along the way. If you get familiar with these you will find this guide easy to use.
When we first visited this area of Kissimmee there were not nearly as many restaurants but now if you are staying anywhere near this area ( Indian Ridge/Rolling Hills/Oak Island Cove/Emerald Isle/Sunset Lakes/Lindfields ) or even travelling to the 27 you really are spoilt for choice.
As you approach Marker 8 on the 192 heading towards the 27 you will notice the turning for Celebration. This area is well worth a visit when you have time to leisurely drive round, park you vehicle and take a stroll by the lake or even sit in one of the rocking chairs provided. There are several excellent restaurants in this area.
Back on the 192 just past Marker 6 you will find Angel’s Lobster Feast on your left. We have never eaten here but guests have recommend it. All the local publications will offer you discount vouchers for Angels. Opposite this is Bob Evans Restaurant and if you need any groceries there is a 7-Eleven nearby.
The next restaurant on you left is Black Angus with Perkins opposite. Next you come to the large Ponderosa Steakhouse which although it has a considerable seating capacity always seems busy. This restaurant is very popular with UK guests offering very good value all-u-can eat Breakfasts,Lunches and Dinners. Lots of families “fill up” here either before or after their visits to the Parks. Alongside Ponderosa you will find Kings Supermarket and a Liquor Store which many visitors use on the way from the airport to their villa.
Opposite the Ponderosa you will find an IHOP ( International House Of Pancakes) and Pizza World. We love the Pizza here although I must admit their seating ( more like old bus seats) leaves something to be desired. There is another Pizza World near to where the 27 joins the I4 and I keep meaning to call in to see if their seating is the same!
On the left there is a Shoneys, another popular all- u can eat restaurant with a Dennys ( great for burgers) and McDonalds opposite.
You are now approaching Marker 5 with Golden Coral Restaurant on your left. Having visited Florida for fifteen years we only ate here on some of our guests recommendation for the first time last year. Now it is the first breakfast restaurant we visit. Tremendous choice and great value for money.
Golden China restaurant is situated on the right near Marker 4 opposite Formosa Gardens where you will find some great restaurants. Our personal favourite is Carrabbas a great Italian restaurant, the warm bread and oils they serve after they seat you are to die for! Friends of ours plump for the Outback Steakhouse and my sister loves TGI Fridays. Also located here are Giordanos where you can enjoy Chicagos Famous Stuffed Pizza and the Taste of China who provide free deliveries.
As you proceed towards the 27 you will see a Chick-Fil-A on the right, this has a drive- thru if you just want to continue your journey but be aware this location does not open on Sundays.
Shortly after this you will find JT’s Family Restaurant and Bar, here you can enjoy lunch or evening meal or just stop for a drink. A Pizza Hut is located nearby and a McDonalds is nearly opposite.
There is fairly new Shopping Plaza on your right in which is sited a BeefO’Bradys. This is sports bar with several TVs, good basic wings etc and fast service. Good place to stop if you are hungry or just need a rest and a drink.
Opposite this Plaza is the Ace Plus Chinese Buffet, a good all- u- can eat Chinese Restaurant, even does pizza and fries for the more traditional diners.
As you approach the 27 you will see a small Passage to India Restaurant on your left. Currently there are not many Indian restaurants in Orlando, my parents have eaten here and say although the food is good they feel it is quite expensive in comparison with other restaurants in Orlando.
