Glenbrook – a popular place to stay
Glenbrook is a very popular attractive community just north of H192, on H27 – an ideal location for that magical vacation you’ve dream of in Orlando.
Easy to find just one mile north on the 192, Walgreens marks the right turning into Glenbrook Boulevard, passing an island of palm trees and lush tropical plants. Driving on there are pretty flower beds along the side of the road until the crossroads is reached marking the main entrance into the Glenbrook - traditionally designed Floridian houses - pretty coloured houses – pastel yellows, creams, orange, grey and olive green homes – gardens with grass verges and statuesque Washington and Queen palm trees featuring in all the gardens. With just six roads in Glenbrook, finding a vacation home is easy (although Brits may find the numbering of the houses different from what they are used to! ).
Homes on Glenbrook all have their own private pools sheltered by lanias but owners and their guests also enjoy Glenbrook’s community facilities. The Clubhouse is welcoming with very friendly staff to help with any questions guests might have or help if assistance is needed, for example, if an airline boarding pass needs to be printed. The staff also manage a DVD Library with DVDs and PS2 games for all ages. The DVDs can be watched free of charge at the Clubhouse on the huge 60 inch TV, or taken back to your rented house (with a small refundable deposit). As well as the TV the Media Room also has a PC with free high speed internet (this should be increased to two PCs in the coming year). There is a gym room with treadmills and toning equipment (a TV is in the gym room to watch whilst you exercise) and a games room with a pool table and air hockey to try.
Outside is a large swimming pool with a waterfall mushroom, sun beds, tables and chairs. If you enjoy tennis there’s a hard court – tennis racquets and balls are available at the Clubhouse office. There is also a sand volleyball court. It is hoped to have a play area in the next year too for younger guests to enjoy.
For guests who do not wish to drive there is a Shuttle service available at Glenbrook available for a small fee.
Close by are many shops - Walgreens and CVS are within walking distance selling useful items such as milk, cereal, bread, biscuits/cookies and popular ice creams. A guest of ours said how his dad loved being able to walk every day to get a newspaper. Within minutes there are supermarkets Winn Dixie, Walmart and Publix and places along H27 and H192 to dine – Chillis, Indian and Chinese restaurants, Applebees, Houlihans and many more. Banks and the post office are very close too.
Disney, using a short cut is 8 miles / 10 minutes away, whilst SeaWorld, Universal and all the popular attractions, shopping malls are close too. Beaches on both the Gulf and Atlantic coast are around one to one and half hours away.
In the words of one of our guests “Glenbrook is far enough from the ‘tourist strip’ but close enough to get to everything”. A peaceful haven to return to after a busy day on vacation.
