Gatorland Park
Pay a visit to the park, you will not be dissappointed! We have been visiting Florida now for over 14 years and we have returned every year and some times twice in the same year. Our two children are jake 14 and hannah 10 so they are well travelled children.every couple of years we return to Gatorland time after time and the kids still love it.We where very sad to hear that they had a fire last November 2006 where the gift shop and main entrance was badly damaged.
Gatorland is located on Hwy 441 just north of the Orlando - Kissimmee line in South Orlando, only 15-20 minutes away from Walt Disney World, Sea World and the Orlando International Airport,or best known as Orange Blossom trail O.B.T. to the locals.
The park has many facilities for the young and old and the gift shop is superb!the park is very good value for money and you can usually take a familiy of four for under $80 this is great compared to the prices of Disney and Universal parks, and they are normally open from 9 am to 6 pm most days.
Gatorland offers a unique alligator wrestling show done "Florida Cracker" style in a shaded 800 seat stadium. Gator wranglers catch a 6 to 8 foot alligator by hand and climb onto the animal's back to point out survival features to the audience. After doing stunts that only a few are brave enough to try, the alligator is rolled over and put to sleep...only to be awakened by a tickle! Once the show is finished there is time for your picture to be taken while sitting on the gators back.
The Gator Jumparoo Show: has thrills for all the family as some of the largest alligators in the world actually jump four to five feet out of the water to retrieve food in this famous one-of-a-kind show. you can Watch as giant alligators jump high enough out of the water to actually snatch food from the trainer's hand and join in the chanting! with the crowd.
The Close up encounter show You never know what kind of animal you'll be encountering next at this fantastic show of Animal Encounters . You'll get to meet fascinating creatures from around the globe as well as Florida's native wildlife - including some of the most dangerous snakes alive.
And if you are realy brave you can pay to feed the gators close up supervised by a trainer,we were at gatorland December 2006 and did this it was superb!
