Gatorland, A Half Day Out
GATORLAND is an ideal attraction to visit see when you just have a half day, it has a nice and relaxed atmosphere with no rushing around or queues (a la Disney style to contend with. Let me tell and show you what it is all about, for me this was a most relaxing half day visit attraction. Gatorland is situated on Orange Blossom Trail(OBT) www.gatorland.com. It takes you back to nature with shows and little excursions into the wild with small, big and Verrryyy BIG Crocs of one kind or another from all over the world.
It provides shows as follows:
Gator wrestling - this is where one of the game keepers have fun and games with an 8-10ft croc. The children even have the opportunity to have a photo taken sat on the back of a Croc.
Gator Jumparoo - The famous show where 10 – 13 ft Crocs compete for lunch and jump out the water to retrieve their reward quite amazing to see the size of these Crocs in action.
Upclose Encounters - Brings you up close to such critters as Snakes, Spiders and exotic birds this is an interactive show
Jungle Crocs of the World - Be amazed at the speed of the Crocs from the Exotic collection of crocodiles on show as the Trainers interact with them in their own environment. They even have them trained to order for some food as a reward.
Swamp Walk – A beautiful Nature walk explores a native Cypress swamp complete with Florida wildlife, birds, nursing ground for the Crocs and other unique swamp critters. A 10 min walk and adventure.
Visit the alligator breeding marsh - a ten acre Florida Marsh with a Male and Female gators in their natural habitat, you could even feed them if you are brave enough. Get a bird’s eye view from the observation tower.
Each show is approximately 15mins long.
Take a ride on the Gatorland Express which goes right around and through the forest which surrounds the park, there is also Lily Pads Waterpark and Playground for the kids. Be interactive and feed the animals around the park.
It has additional offers such as 'Trainer for the day' or Twilight Gator Night Shine. Check out Jack being adventurous and didn't fancy the Rookie Wrestling Photo sat on the back of a croc.
All in all excellent entertainment and value for Money.
