Florida Guide > Planning your Trip
Forward Planning
Planning ahead for that special holiday ( or as our American friends say Vacation ) can make such a difference to everything if a little thought and forward planning has been used before you go.
Firstly you need to sort out what time of the year to go, some people prefer it when it is not quite so hot and humid, some don’t mind how hot it is but are terrified of thunder storms some like me don’t care what time of the year it is as long as it is in Florida !
Right so, got that sorted, now how long for? I think as with most long haul flights and remembering just how much there is to do in Florida one week is never long enough.
Once you have paid the airfare you might as well be there for a bit longer. We like to do three weeks as then you can have chill out days as well as busy days, and you can also fit in a few trips a bit further a field . Finding flights and car hire is easy, all you have to do is look a bit further on the site that you are on now and that’s that one sorted.
The same with accommodation, a private villa is certainly the way to go nowadays, you have much more freedom, the children are safe as they are where you can see them and there is nothing nicer than after a day in the parks to sit round your own private pool with a drink and watch the sun set.
Now we have sorted out when to go, we have got our flights and car booked found that luxury accommodation, close to the Mouse, what next ?
What to do when we get there, where do you start? The theme park capital of the world and sunny with it. The list is endless with places like Disney which has four parks of it’s own all taking a day to see, sometimes two, if you have children it is best to work out where you want to go and how long to spend in each park. Some open early and go on late into the evening in peak times Magic Kingdom is open until midnight, so it can be a long and tiring day especially for younger children and you can’t go to Florida for the first time and not see that Magical Mickey mouse, the mouse that has captured every ones heart for years, young and old alike.
Then there are the other theme parks , Universal studios, Islands of Adventure, Busch Gardens, more days accounted for. Once you have done those there is SeaWorld, Cypress Gardens, Silver Springs, the numerous water parks, and then there is the SHOPS, the saying shop till you drop must have been after someone had been to florida, with the huge Malls and outlet centre’s you could spend a whole day just going round one of them. That’s why you need days in between to relax and enjoy the wonderful Florida Sunshine, have a day at your chosen villa to laze and swim and do absolutely nothing or go to one of the beautiful beaches, top that suntan up and enjoy !! Plan it all out before you go , it makes so much difference and you will enjoy it so much more.
That is why most people who have been to Florida go back year after year, there is so much to see and do that you can’t fit it all into just one holiday, there is always somewhere that you’ll say to yourself “when I come back next time ….. “
Our first trip was in 1989 and we have been going back ever since, there is still places that we haven’t seen so “when I go back next time …”
