FOREVER FLORIDAS ZIPLINE SAFARI
If you have more than 2 weeks to explore all that Orlando has to offer, of if you have already visited Disney and the various parks many times before, and you are simply looking for an unusual experience, then you may be interested in trying out something very different – indeed, it is quite unique – Zipline Safari at Forever Florida.
Now one would normally think of ziplining though a tropical rainforest high above a the canopy of trees, but a recently opened attraction in Osceola County offers you the chance to soar through the trees on a 2. 5 hour adventure costing $ 85.
Zipline Safaris offers you the chance to take part in a two and a half hour adventure, at speeds of up to 20 mph, at heights of 55 feet. Using a network of seven high tension cables you soar over wetlands and prairie, from platform to platform. As you sail above the ground you may be lucky enough to see white tail deer, black bears and alligators, and even perhaps the endangered Florida Panther. The ‘Forever Florida’ wildlife conservation area includes 9 Florida ecosystems, and the area is home to numerous species of flora and fauna, and nearly 2000 species of birds.
Back on firm ground you can explore the animal interaction area, which features a puma, alligators and other animals. You can even take part in moonlight zipline safaris, checking out all the thrills in the luminous glow of moonlight. These tours only take place when the moon is full. Dinner is included in the Cypress Restaurant, and includes champagne and cocktails. The cost is $150 and space is limited so you need to pre-book.
The daytime zipline safari is $85 per adult, and for children aged 10 or more. The minimum weight limit is 70lbs and the maximum weight limit is 275lbs.
But if ziplining is not for you then you can take part in a horseback safari for just $40 an hour. The ride takes you along historic trails, and you are accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who provides a commentary on the way. If you are feeling really adventurous you can even join an overnight horseback adventure!
However, if you just want to sit back and relax then you can take a special open-air safari coach which is elevated 5ft off the ground to give you the best possible view. This costs just $28 for an adult and $22 for a child aged between 6 and 12. Children aged 5 and under are free. Safety is, of course, paramount, and helmets are provided.
