Food and Wine Fest Eat to the Beat Concerts 2009
Epcot is not just a fascinating theme park, it also hosts a number of great festivals during the year. In September, the annual Food and Wine Fest is held, and it includes several ‘Eat to the Beat’ concerts, which take place at the America Gardens Theatre, immediately opposite the American pavilion, and in front of the lake.
This will be the 14th Food and Wine Festival, and it will be held between September 25th and November 8th, 2009.
This is the proposed schedule of performers at this year’s concerts. They take place three times a day throughout the festival, and can be heard at 5. 15 pm, 6. 30 pm and 7. 45 pm. They are very popular so if you are thinking of attending make sure you are there early to reserve your seat. The concerts themselves are free, you just pay your normal park admission. Of course, this line up is subject to change:
Sept. 25-27: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - contemporary swing band from Southern California
Sept. 28-29: Richard Marx – American adult contemporary and pop and rock singer. He is also a singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. His hits in the late 1980s and 1990s included slow ballads and classic rock hits.
Sept. 30-Oct. 3: Starship, Starring Mickey Thomas – American rock band popular in the 1970s and 1980s.
Oct. 4-6: En Vogue – American female R & B vocal quartet who were Grammy nominated.
Oct. 7-8: Better Than Ezra – This American alternative rock trio is from New Orleans, Louisiana.
Oct. 9-11: Sister Hazel – an alternative rock band from Gainesville, Florida. Their style is a blend of fold rock, pop and southern rock.
12-13: Kool & the Gang – This jazz/soul/disco/R & B/funk group originated in New Jersey in 1964.
14-16: Spyro Gyra – This American jazz fusion band was formed in the mid 1970s in Buffalo, New York, and has made over 25 albums, selling 10 million copies.
Oct. 17-18: Jon Secada – This Cuban-American singer and songwriter was born in Havana, Cuba but raised in Florida. He has won two Grammy awards and writes for Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin amongst others. His music is a fusion of funk, pop, soul and Latin percussion.
Oct. 21-22: Vanessa Carlton – This songwriter and pianist sings mainly American soft rock and pop.
Oct. 23-25: Taylor Dayne – This very popular American pop vocalise is also a song writer, actress and dancer.
Oct. 26-28: Boyz II Men – Well known to the British pop scene this Grammy award winning boy band originated in Philadelphia during 1988.
Oct. 29-31: John Waite - This British artist was born in Lancaster, England, and is a rock singer and musician. He was originally the lead vocalist for the bands ‘The Babys’ and ‘Bad English. ’ In 1984 he had a number one in the US as a solo artist.
Nov. 1-2: Taylor Hicks – This American singer won the fifth season of American Idol in 2006.
Nov. 3-5: Billy Ocean - Born in Trinidad, this British based Grammy Award winning popular music performer had many hits in the 1970s and 1980s.
Nov. 6-8: Los Lobos – This is an American Chicano rock band who have been Grammy award winners three times. Their music reflects both traditional Spanish and Mexican influences, as well as rock and roll, country, folk, blues and R and B.
