Florida weather
Have you ever wondered why so many people choose Florida for their vacation? Maybe it has something to do with the great weather and on average 265 days of sunshine per year! It is not called the SUNSHINE STATE for nothing. Being located in southern parts of the US, Florida experiences more warm sunny days than most other places in the US.
Depending on the time of year you travel to Florida you will experience different types of weather. For most the time of year they travel to Florida, will revolve around when the Children are off school, but if you are able to travel out of the peak dates you can really experience some of the best weather. I have been to Florida around 15 times before and have experienced the majority of weather conditions. I will try to explain some of the pro’s and cons for each one:
Travelling between Nov – Mar you will have nice warm days and cooler evenings. Due to the time of year there is normally limited rain and storms at this time of year. Florida at this time of year can have almost no rain for weeks on end. Moving into Mar you can experience some of the best weather with temperatures into the 30’s (80f).
Travel between Mar – Aug you will move into the hotter months that are more humid than the other months. In these months you generally have better mornings with sun and a larger rain showers in the afternoon. Once these showers have been past, generally the weather picks up and the sun comes back out in the early evening. In Jul and Aug the average rainfall is around 7 inches for the month. If you like the weather nice and hot then these months will be for you. Due to the hot humid climate the weather in this period can form into a tropical depression forming stronger winds and rain. These are generally few and far between, but can form nonetheless.
Travel between Aug – Nov you will move into one of the best periods to visit Florida. In these months the weather is generally as warm as the summer months, but moving towards Nov do cool off. There is less rain due to the reduced humidity and generally the conditions are perfect for visiting the parks and attractions (not too hot or cold). We have had some of our best weather when visiting Florida around Nov time. In Oct you still get around 9 hours of sunshine and temperatures into the high 20’s (70f).
If you are after visiting a place that has great weather all year round then you must visit Florida. Having been during most of the months I can say that Nov and Mar time are our favourite. If travelling with Children they will not find this time of year too hot. What ever time of year you travel to Florida you will enjoy one of the best climates in the World and also many of those 265 average sunshine days per Year!
