Florida Mall
When visiting Florida the holiday is not complete without a spot of retail therapy. For those that like to shop the Florida Mall located minutes from Orlando International Airport on the corner of South Orange Blossom Trail and Sand Lake road has everything you should require all under one roof. The Florida Mall is a 30 minute drive from the Kissimmee area.
The mall is mainly made up of large department stores, (Sears, JC Penny, Dillards, Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor and macy’s each being separated by smaller stores. There are over 250 stores in total, so there is plenty to do and a store for everything.
The one thing we like about the Florida Mall is the fact it is air-conditioned and under cover, so is an ideal place to visit when the weather is wet or very hot and humid. With the good exchange rate between there can be some good bargains to be had if you shop around.
When planning to visit the Mall I would set aside around 2-3 hours to get round everything, with so many shops this in some cases might not be enough. If you are after something to eat you are spoilt for choice with plenty of places in the large central food court, there is Ruby Tuesday, Pizza hut, Subway, Salsa Taqueria Bar and Taco Bell to name just a few. My favourite is Ruby Tuesday where you can get large steaks and ribs (Yum, Yum!)
For those who like designer clothes there are plenty of these type of shops located here, some of the names that can be found are Guess, Gap, Abercrombie and Fitch, Banana Republic and Billabong. If you are after some electronic gadgets the Mall has Radio Shack, World of Electronics. Many of the large stores like Sears and JC Penny also have large electrical departments which sell MP3’s, DVD’s etc. There is even a large Disney store to keep the kids happy!
When planning your stay in Florida, make sure you have the Florida Mall on your short list of things to do. It is an ideal place to get clothes and electrical goods and with the current exchange rate is excellent value for money (just remember to add tax to all your purchases). Overall I would rate the Florida Mall as one of the best places to go shopping and somewhere you need to visit before you go home.
