Florida after the Parks
You may ask, what is there to do in Florida after you have done the parks to death, some people may think that there is nothing else to do but, they would be missing out on a wealth of other activities whether they be sporting or relaxing.
For the golfer, Florida is full of golf courses from good quality to championship, with many of the courses being designed by heroes of the game, of course, many of the villas that you can rent are situated on golf courses and you can sit on your patio and watch the golfers play.
In Kissimmee Old Town there are various activities throughout the week, probably the most well known being the historic car parade each Saturday night. There are magnificent beaches to visit, St Pete’s, Clearwater has a beautiful beach, Coco beach and Daytona where you can see the motor racing circuit as well as sun yourself or swim in the sea.
Crystal river, where the water is so clear that you can see the bottom despite the great depth, there is a real lazy river where you get a tyre inner tube and lazily float a quarter of a mile or so actually in a river, get out, walk back to the start and do it all over again. There are nature parks, fishing at almost every lake but watch out for the alligators, there are rodeos for you to go and see, jet ski hire, if you haven’t done this, it’s like riding a bicycle but on water, and much, much faster, in fact up to 50 miles per hour but great fun.
Why not take a drive to NASA and spend a great day looking around the space centre with all it’s displays of rockets, mock ups of the original control centre, and in my opinion, the star of the show, the Saturn rocket, so huge, it looks as it would be impossible to get it off the ground, and while you are there, be sure to rub the moon rock.
Go out to Boggy Creek and take an air boat ride, whisk over the water or the ground in one of these fabulous air boats, skimming the surface at breakneck speed, doubling back on itself in it’s own length when the driver sees a bird, other animal of interest or alligator, feel the surge of power as the driver accelerates off to another area of the lake, perhaps around the island to where the alligators pull themselves out of the water and sun themselves on the bank.
What else is there to do in Florida after you have done the park, Lots and lots.
