Watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom from Polynesian resort!
If you are visiting Orlando for the first time and trying to pack in as much as possible, it is very easy to end up doing very long days. This is not only tiring for the adults – but also for the younger members of the family who are so excited by a day with Mickey Mouse that it all becomes too much! Sometimes it is such a long day that it is impossible to keep going to watch the firework display!
However – all is not lost! You don’t need to miss the fireworks as there is another way to watch the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom!
We often eat at Disney’s Polynesian Resort – Ohana restaurant.
You generally do need to book well in advance – although if it is fully booked it is worth turning up on the night to see if they can get you in – and generally they can!
To park at the Polynesian resort the driver needs to present photo ID – either driving licence or passport.
Food at Ohana is Hawaiian style and is cooked on a giant bar-b-q in the middle of the restaurant! The servers are all dressed in Hawaiian style clothes and the entertainment is Hawaiian live music with games and other entertainment aimed at the younger members of the family. Very much a family evening out!
The windows of the restaurant look out over the lake with Cinderella’s castle on the other side. If you are lucky enough to get a window seat you will have a fabulous view.
When the fireworks display at Magic Kingdom begins the entertainment in the restaurant stops and they switch over to the live music and commentary from the Magic Kingdom! The firework display is awesome – and seen from the comfort of your dining table!
If you have eaten early and left your table before the firework display begins –do not despair!
Wander outside to the beach area where you can sit on the fine white sand and watch the comings and goings on the lake until the firework display begins. Generally quite a few people gather here to watch the display.
It is awesome!
It really does feel as though the fireworks are coming across the lake towards you!
The commentary and music from Magic Kingdom are relayed over the loud speaker system outside.
Your parking permit at Polynesian is for three hours – so plenty of time to dine and watch the firework display too!
An excellent evening!
