Fantasy of Flight (6)
Fancy a day out away from the mouse! Then head down the I4 in the direction of Tampa and have a great day out at Fantasy of Flight. This park is an aviation themed attraction which shows the many achievements in flight that we have made over the years. The information is presented in a fun way being both educational and interesting, with hands on exhibits as well as interactive displays and daily aerial demonstrations.
The park is easy to find, head West on I-4 towards Tampa and then take the SR-559 exit 44. Turn right toward Polk City & Fantasy of Flight. At the flashing red light, turn left and Fantasy of flight will be less than a 1/4 mile down on your left.
Admission price is less than $29 for an adult and children aged 5 to 15 years are only $14. 95, under 5 year olds are free.
The history of aviation is presented to you in a family friendly way, in an authentic 1940’s airport village. You will find three large aircraft hangars filled with over 40 airplanes most of which are in fantastic condition for their age. There is a realistic attraction where you can experience mans first attempts at heading up in to the skies, be part of World War one as you climb aboard a B17 on a bombing mission. If this is not enough excitement for you, then you can head on over to Fighter Town, where you take the controls of a simulated USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier, be a naval aviator and have a go at playing the battle game from the cockpit of your own corsair Fighter.
Children will love to see the Ford Tri-Motor cinema star, which is the actually plane that was featured in the the Stephen Spielberg classic film “Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom”
Other similar rides include piloting your own hot air balloon or having a go at hang gliding, safe in the knowledge that your feet are really not far from the earth! These rides are popular with children and mums and dads can join in the fun or just sit back and take a well earned rest. All of the family will enjoy the daily event of seeing the vintage bi plane being put through its paces, performing an overhead air spectacular which is included in the admission price. It may be worth noting that this is subject to weather conditions.
Overall this is a very enjoyable day for the whole family with many memories to be made.
