Exploring the Florida Mall
Situated on Sand Lake Road about six miles south of junction 74A on interstate 4, you will find the Florida Mall; an alternative to the many outlet shopping malls, here you will find big department stores with familiar names such as Macy’s, Nordstrom’s and Neiman Marcus.
This is a covered Mall which has recently been extended and is a good location for rainy days. The car park is huge, so, like your visits to the theme parks, take careful note of where you have parked your vehicle. It’s not unusual to see people laden with shopping, walking around the car park pointing their car keys and clicking the panic button in an effort to locate their vehicle!
Whichever location you enter the mall you will find a store directory and map so that you are able to orientate yourself. This is not a discount mall and generally prices are dearer, although if you are a UK tourist prices may still represent good value depending on the current exchange rate. Do be aware, however, that some stores such as Old Navy, Bath and Body and The New York Company sell the same merchandise in the outlet malls where it can sometimes be found slightly cheaper. As well as the large department stores there are many other smaller and specialist shops which you will not find when you are outlet shopping, some of our favourites are Harry and David’s, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Sephora. Like the outlet mall you will find carts situated centrally along the walkways, selling everything from sun catchers and sunglasses to manicure products and hair straighteners.
There is a large food court offering a host of choices; pizza, subs and wraps, Chinese and fast food with fries. For those with a sweet tooth you will find cakes and pastries, ice creams, crepes and donuts Alternatives to the food court are the full service restaurants, Buca di Beppo, California Pizza Kitchen and Ruby Tuesday and for fans of Starbucks there are more than one location within the mall.
In the mall’s recent extension names familiar to UK tourists are featured such as Zara and H and M and it may be that you are able to find merchandise the same, or similar to that in their UK outlets, but at a much more competitive price.
If you choose not to eat in the mall but hunger hits as you finish your shopping, there are plenty of familiar names close to the mall such as Carrabas Italian Grill, The Olive Garden TGI Fridays and The Outback. There is sure to be something to suit everyone.
