Undiscovered Future World Tour - Epcot
Having taken the “Keys to the Kingdom” tour a few years ago at the Magic Kingdom we thought we would try out the “Undiscovered Future World” tour in Epcot. This is an outdoor walking tour and lasts about four to four and a half hours. It covers all of the Future World pavilions and includes seldom seen areas backstage including a peek at the preparations for the nightly firework display “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth”.
The tour begins at the Guest Relations Lobby where you will meet your guide who will take you around each of the pavilions in turn explaining Walt Disney’s vision for the future and the history and creation of EPCOT. Our guide was able to give us plenty of facts and information and answered most questions that were asked although any future developments or rumours the guests may have heard about Disney seemed to be taboo. I don’t know if he had been sworn to secrecy and wasn’t allowed to say or he just did not know the answers.
Half way through the tour we took a short break for lunch (lunch is not included in the price of the tour) and then we were off again for a ride on Test Track. We felt like VIP guests as we jumped the queue and went straight onto the ride. At the end of the tour we were also given Fastpass tickets to ride again.
At one point in the tour we were taken backstage to meet a cast member from the Walt Disney World International Program who explained what it was like to work for the Disney Corporation.
The last part of the tour was backstage again when we were taken to see the barges that are used for the Illuminations show. You would not believe the huge amount of work that goes into this show each night. Finally, each tour guest was given a special limited edition “Undiscovered Future World” pin as a souvenir of the tour and a ticket for the Illuminations show which gave us special viewing privileges.
This is not a tour for young children but if you are interested in Disney this tour will meet all your expectations.
Admission to the park is required to take the tour and guests must be at least sixteen years of age. The price of the tour is $49 inclusive of tax but if you are an annual pass holder you will receive a 15 per cent discount. To book or for more information telephone (407) WDW-TOUR or (407) 939-8687.
