Epcot – The Thinking Mans Theme Park
I know many husbands who dread going to Disney World – but they love Epcot. Epcot appeals to all ages and caters for all ages, but it especially appeals to men. All the rides are educational, from little tots in the Living Seas with Nemo and Friends, to Mission Space, all ages are catered for.
For the men, they can understand the technology behind all the rides and the educational information they are given on all the rides. The Living Seas with Nemo and Friends, once you get past the short kiddy ride, is a mine of information on fish and the wonders of the deep.
The Spaceship Earth tells of the progress made from early man to the present day, from cave drawings to space travel. The Universe of Energy shows exactly how energy is created and harnessed since the dawn of time before moving off on to watch the dinosaurs interacting. The ride its self is a wonder of modern technology in that the whole bank of theatre seats move off on a wire no bigger than a mans finger and powered by solar energy. Mission Space and Test Track speak for themselves as to why they would appeal to males of all ages.
Living with the land shows how crops are grown in difficult places and what progress is being made for the future including growing food in space. Even the Imagination Pavilion which features a cute kiddy ride – Journey Into Imagination with Figment – provides Dads with information they probably did not know.
All the rides end with a pavilion of information and experiments to try relating to the ride. For instance after the Figment ride they can conduct invisible orchestras with just their bare hands or make music by stepping on tiles on the floor. They can create photographs of themselves and their family using imagery and the latest techniques.
After Spaceship earth you can send emails to your friends and family, which include a photograph taken of you at the end of the ride.
The Innoventions Centre features a house of the future, a safety test lab, a band of instrument playing robots a wacky game show and video playground.
After all the rides, a stroll round the World Showcase is a slow paced leisurely way to spend the afternoon discovering other cultures, what they make, what they eat and their local entertainment. Try lunch in Morocco, afternoon tea in Germany and end with dinner in France. All rounded off with a spectacular fireworks and laser show with music that beats any thing you will have ever seen before.
