EPCOT
If you have never been to Walt Disney World before one of the best parks is EPCOT. Situated around a large lake area, there park is orientated around science and technology theme, with many of the rides and attractions taking on this type of theme.
Over the last few yeas EPCOT has seen a great improvement by adding extra rides and attractions to their already impressive list of things to do. Some of the new rides and attractions include SOARIN and MISSION SPACE.
Finding your way round EPCOT could not be easier, as it is situated around the large lake you can easily follow it in either a clockwise or anticlockwise rotation. From previous experience it is always best to start anticlockwise (most people go clockwise early in the day). By the end of the day most either stay in on of the large restaurants or find themselves a spot for the best fireworks show in Orlando. Going to EPCOT is always a very long day because of this.
Some of the best rides and attractions there are as follows:
Mission Space – A ride designed to allow the whole family to experience a space mission and take off (without leaving the planet!). Each member of the team has a job to do and it involves great teamwork to get it all right. You can either select the green or orange team depending on the level you would like to try. This is one of my favourite rides as it allows you to become an astronaut for the day.
Test track – Travel around a track at up to 60mph and experience a ride that takes you through the testing procedure for a new car. Turn, spin, crash your way trough the ride along banked turns and bumps.
Honey I shrunk the audience- Does exactly what it says on the tin, The mad professor shrinks all the audience and you experience everything in amazing 3-D. The larger than life characters get up close and personal.
Soarin – New for 2005 this ride takes you on a free flying trip well above the streets of California, Yosemite valley, large mountains all on a large swing chair. Gives a great feel when you travel into places you might not have visited before.
Illuminations – One of the best Illuminations in Orlando is a must see at the end of the day. It is well worth the wait and it is always advised to arrive as early as possible to avoid disappointment and get a good seat.
Overall EPCOT is one of the best days out for the whole family as there is something for everyone. It is certainly a must to do when you visit Orlando.
