Eating at Epcot
Every time my family and I go to Florida, Epcot is the theme park we seem to visit the most. Not only for the shows, exhibits, rides and shops but also for the excellent restaurants especially those in World Showcase. Dotted around a lagoon are the ten pavilions which make up the World Showcase - Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, Canada and of course the American Pavilion. Each one of them has a sit down restaurant serving the specialities of their country and also a counter service where you can purchase snacks and drinks. The following are some of our family favourites.
Japan – The Teppan Edo Restaurant is great fun and a good way to meet other park guests. A maximum of eight diners sit around a large grill table whilst the chef dices, slices and stir-frys fish, meat and vegetables in the Teppanyaki style of Japanese cooking. If you enjoy the traditional sushi cuisine of Japan then you must visit the neighbouring eatery Tokyo Dining, where if you are lucky enough to get a late table you will have an excellent view of the fireworks IllumiNations Reflections of Earth. If however you only want a quick taste of Japan we highly recommend Yakitori House that serves sushi, chicken and beef dishes.
Morocco – Marrakesh is an authentic Moroccan restaurant complete with intricate hand laid mosaics and traditional belly dancers who entertain whilst you are eating one of the many national dishes on the menu. If your are new to North African cuisine then why not try one of the Sampler Platters which provide a mixture of Moroccan dishes. You however must not leave without trying the Bastilla, crispy leaves of pastry topped with vanilla cream and sprinkled with toasted almonds.
Canada – Le Cellier Steakhouse, as the name suggests this restaurant decor is based on a Canadian wine cellar. If you like steak then this is the place for you though it is advisable to book in advance, as this is the smallest restaurant in Epcot and one of the most popular. If you do manage to get a reservation then you must try the New York Strip Steak.
China – Lotus Blossom Café is situated next to the Nine Dragons Restaurant and is a family favourite for a quick and inexpensive meal. This counter service restaurant offers classic Chinese take-out favourites like stir-fry, Shanghai grilled chicken with pickled vegetables, pot stickers and egg rolls.
