Dine out at Disney's Polynesian Resort
Looking for a change from the everyday eateries in the Orlando area? Need somewhere to eat where the children will be entertained?
Why not try Ohana at the Disney Polynesian Resort?
Parking is free - the driver will just need to show picture ID and you will be issued with a temporary parking permit for that evening.
Ohana has an Hawaiian theme. The servers are all dressed in Hawaiian style brightly coloured outfits. The restaurant itself has picture windows looking over to the Magic Kingdom - with a perfect view of Cinderella's Castle across the lake. If you are lucky enough to get a window seat it's the icing on the cake!
In the middle of the restaurant is a huge Hawaiian style bar-b-q and the chefs are busy cooking all the various meats.
Ohana is an eat as much as you like - but unlike other similar eateries, at Ohana you are served at the table.
There are 3 courses. The main course arrives in stages from the bar-b-q with the meats being presented to you on large skewers. The servers will return to your table to offer you further helpings.
We were told that the menu changes regularly so if you are a frequent visitor you won't get bored!
The entertainment is musical. Again Hawaiian dressed, the male singer playing his stringed instrument not only entertains you with familiar songs but also organises various games and activities for the children. We watched as the youngsters danced around the room following the singer, limboed under a decorated pole and various other games. They were all having a wonderful time! Some of the Little ones were clearly enthralled! For the parents, a welcome relief to be able to enjoy their meal with the children entertained.
We finished our meal and wandered outside to the beach area. Here you could indeed imagine that you are on a desert island - gorgeous white sand, palm trees and the water lapping on the shore. However, a glance across the water to the Magic Kingdom and Cinderellas' Castle reminds you where you are!
From here you have a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks!
Of course, with a table near the window you would also be able to see them from within the Ohana restaurant too!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we have already booked again for our next trip!
A word of warning....you do need to book in advance! It is very popular and does get booked up. The number to call to book either this or any other Disney dining experience is:
