Disneys Hollywood Studios
Just off Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake is a lagoon surrounded by several attractions and dining establishments. Three of the attractions are based on characters and movies by LucasFilm owned by George Lucas.
Raiders of The Lost Ark is a fast paced stunt show featuring an Indiana Jones lookalike, plenty of action and pyrotechnics, along with some audience participating if you are picked and so desire. Good family fun for all ages and a chance to sit down for half an hour.
Star Tours 2: The Adventure Continues in 3D, based on the famous Star War films, is due to open in May 2011. When the ride first opened in the 1980s it introduced brand new technology to simulator rides. The newly remodelled ride will include the latest 3D technology to take riders on a brand new adventure.
The American Idol Experience has several daily auditions for park guests to impress a live audience with their singing prowess and perhaps win the chance of appearing on the real show. This prize does not apply to contestants from outside the U. S. A. but this does not bar other nationalities from taking part for the fun of it and appearing on the giant screen outside the Idol building.
The Streets of America, designed to resemble New York and San Francisco, has another action packed entertainment with the self-explanatory title of Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. This is also the location for the Osborne Family Lights, a must see light display at Christmas if you are lucky enough to be in the area at the time.
Muppet-Vision 3D is a terrific 12 minute movie with, as expected, lots of whacky muppet moments and is ideal for all ages. The show is held in a large theatre that seats almost 600, so don' t let crowds put you off from waiting in line. The wait generally isn' t too long and the pre-show is entertaining.
The Backlot Tour is a 35 minute show that teaches you how special effects work before taking you on a 200 seat tram that works its way around various backstage areas.
Animation Courtyard has a number of attractions relating the history of Disney and Pixar, including a live show entitled Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Although educational, like most of Hollywood Studios, there is plenty to keep youngsters entertained and happy.
The Magic of Disney Animation is a very interesting attraction that takes visitors on a journey through the art of animation and shows an indepth look into how the process works.
Walt Disney: One Man' s Dream is a fascinating exploration into the life of Walt himself.
Pixar Place is the newest addition to Hollywood Studios and is home to some of the original soundstages that were in use when the park was used for production purposes. The one attraction is Toy Story Midway Mania which is a 3D attraction hosted by Toy Story characters
As per usual, anything to do with Disney is hugely entertaining and Hollywood Studios are no exception.
