Disney PhotoPass
Are you fed up of being the only one who takes the family holiday snaps or having to carry a camera around with you all day? Everyone else gets in the picture but not you because you are always the one taking it! Well, help is at hand from a great little invention from Disney called the PhotoPass.
Throughout all four theme parks and the two water parks there are Disney photographers just waiting to take your picture. They will not approach you so there is no need to worry that you are going to be mithered at any time during your trip. If you want your photo taken just approach a photographer and they will be only too happy to oblige. There is no need to pay anything up front and absolutely no obligation to buy your photograph. Your photographs will be available for you to view online for up to thirty days.
So what do you do? After having your first photograph taken the Disney photographer will give you a PhotoPass card. This card has a unique sixteen digit number on the back. I would strongly advise making a note of this number so that if for any reason you lost the card, you can still view your photographs. It is the number and not the card that is important. The next time you want your picture taken hand the card to the photographer and they will swipe it just as you would a credit card. If you have left your card at home or another member of your party has gone off with it, you can easily get another card as there is no limit to the number of cards you can have.
Each of your photos are then transmitted via wireless link to their system and amazingly are available for you to view in only a couple of minutes. You don’t even have to wait until you get home to access your computer as there are various locations called Photo Centres where you can present your card so that you can view them straight away.
However, I prefer to wait until we get back to our villa to view them in the comfort of our own home. All you need to do is to log on at the website address which will be given to you and create an account. Disney give you thirty days to add your card number to the account and then a further thirty days to purchase them before they are deleted.
One of the great things that you can do is to add a Disney border to the photograph. Another is that there will be some surprise photos too. When the photographer asked you to pose in a certain way it was for a special reason. They may have asked you to raise your hands in the air as though you are lifting something. That something could be a Disney character which will now be in the photograph with you!
If you are visiting at Christmas and have tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party you will be given a separate PhotoPass card. This is because Disney will give you a discount of 40% on all your photographs taken at the party!
There are various packages which are available online or when you are in the parks. For an up-to-date price list just log to their website.
