Disney Christmas Celebrations
Why not visit Disney’s Epcot anytime after Thanksgiving and get to watch the Candlelight Processional. This is a massed choir, a 50 piece orchestra and an A list celebrity narrator. Some of the narrators this year(2010) include names such as Whoopi Goldberg, Steven Curtis Chapman, Jodi Benson, Susan Lucci, Thomas Gibson, Trace Adkins, Edward James Olmus and many others.
Since 1990, Musical Director Rick Mizell of Walt Disney Entertainment has also waved the baton as one of the conductors for this 5 decade Disney Parks tradition. They have only made a few changes during those years which include adding ‘Do you Hear What I Hear’ and ‘Away in a Manger’ in order to include the Voices of Liberty from the American Adventure Pavilion.
It’s a celebration of diversity, including ‘Silent Night’ in German and ‘What Child is this’ in Spanish. Each night, variances in narrator, musicians, singers and audience dynamics bring different nuances to every performance. It is great if you have a Pass as you can enjoy it over and over again with a different narrator each time.
Another great place to visit at Xmas is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom. This is one event not to be missed. It is pure Disney Magic and the ultimate kick start to the Xmas celebrations. It beings usually around the first week in November and continues until a week before Xmas. You can catch the spirit of the season through entertainment that includes live shows, fireworks, holiday carolers and special Character Meet ‘N’ Greets. . . especially wonderful for the children, and a perfect photo opportunity with some of your favourite characters.
The evening begins as Cinderella and other Disney Characters take to the stage in the Castle Dreamlights ceremony that breathtakingly transforms Cinderella Castle into an ice palace draped with 200, 000 glistening white lights. Santa Claus joins Mickey and Minnie Mouse, dancing gingerbread and snowflakes, marching toy soldiers, a horse drawn sleigh, enchanting floats in the merry Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade down Main Street, U. S. A. Then there is more Disney dazzle with the Holiday Wishes Celebrate the Spirit of the Season fireworks, which lights the sky in a way you will never have seen before, and a glittering show orchestrated to xmas melodies.
Complimentary cocoa and cookies are the order for the night - they gave us 20 cookies between 4 of us and were quite happy to supply us with more if we wanted them! ! !
Do not miss this ultimate holiday party if you are in Orlando for Xmas! ! !
