Discovery Cove in Orlando (14)
Discovery Cove. Definately recommended. A memorable day for all the family. Expensive but worth every penny. A once in a lifetime experience to swim with the dolphins.
We had our concerns that there wasn`t going to be enough to do for a whole day and worried about spending all this money on one day because with four children it came to an awful lot of money.
On entering the park at 9 a m we where given our dolphin friendly sun cream and complimentary snorkel and we also posed for our family photo. Then we headed off to try on our wet suits.
We then made our way to the coral reef to try a spot of snorkeling. This was great fun and you swim so close to all the fish, it was amazing, so many different colours. The squeals of delight from the children made it all worthwhile.
Next we paddled with the stingrays which was a bit daunting having them skim past you. We then stopped for a light snack, which was all included in the price, there was ice cold Budweisers for the adults and Ice-creams, fruit and pretzels for the children. We didn`t stop for long though, too much to do.
Next we visited the bird aviery where you could feed the birds from the palm of your hand, it got a bit scary when the birds came down and landed on your head without any warning. The children really enjoyed this. We decided to take a stroll around, it was all so picturesque. A real paradise.
We had built up such an appetite, now it was time for food. There was so much to choose from and all cooked freshly in front of your eyes. Everything looked so mouthwatering it was hard to choose, and it tasted as good as it looked.
We decided to take it east for a while until our much awaited swim with the dolphins, so we had a leisurely swim in the lazy river and through the fountains.
Now it was the moment we had all been waiting for, our turn to swim with the dolphins. We all got introduced to our dolphin and her trainer and then each took it in turn to stroke her rubbery skin. She did lots of tricks in the water and then we each held onto her fin while she pulled us across the water.
This was truly an amazing experience, one we will all cherish forever.
We went to choose our photo`s and the day was sadly at an end.
Never a dull moment. And we worried about there not being enough to do.
Awesome ! ! ! ! ! !
