Discovery Cove
For that once in a lifetime experience.
Ever seen people swimming with Dolphins, ever thought I would love to do that, then visit Discovery Cove, Orlando and your dream will come true. Yes swim with Dolphins.
Discovery Cove has to be the theme park where you will take home more than just souvenirs, your memories of this unbelievable day will live with you forever.
Your day starts by arriving at reception where you will be checked in one by one and given your own personal ID Card. At this point you will be allocated your time spot for your Dolphin Swim. Once that’s all over you just head into the park and enjoy some of the other activities that are available.
Firstly you will want to find your spot on the uncrowded beach where you will base yourselves for the day, don’t worry as Discovery Cove limits the Park to 1000 visitors. Its not like the other Orlando Theme Parks where the crowds are much larger, Discovery Cove is a park were you pre book your day before you even arrive in Florida. Once you are settled its time to explore.
Besides the Dolphin Swim there are lots of other things to do. You might want to go snorkelling in the Coral Reef where you will be swimming along side and coming face to face with 1000s of different types of tropical fish. This experience is just like being in the ocean, watch as the shoals of fish race past you darting from side to side, and check out the shipwreck in the middle where you will probably find a few Barracudas hanging around.
You may want to go just relax and take a leisurely swim around the Tropical River.
Lovely crystal clear water that winds you through some of the most extraordinary looking landscapes. The Tropical River is just the place to unwind as you float through the rainforest above listening to all the different sites and sounds it provides.
You will also find many colourful tropical birds in the Aviary. This is great for the young kids as food is provided so you are able to feed them out of your hand.
Another great attraction here is the Ray Lagoon, another one for the younger end although still great for grown ups too. Paddle and snorkel your way through the pool as the Rays come up to take a look at you.
The food provided for lunch is wonderful, fabulously presented, and lots of it to. There is something for everybody here, and from what I can remember the desserts are to die for.
Finally the Dolphin Swim, when your time arises you will need to head for your briefing before entering the Dolphin Pool. Once in the cold water the swim begins and your days enjoyment reaches its peak. You might kiss the Dolphin; he/she may splash you, but its all part of the fun.
Once your day is over don’t forget the last minute souvenirs, but its time to start thinking of how great your day has been and how those moments at Discovery Cove will be in your memory for a lifetime.
