Dinner Cruise on St Johns River Sanford

Most people only ever visit Sanford when they fly in and out of Orlando. In fact it' s the last place they want to visit as it normally is going home time
.
But Sanford itself is a great little place to visit as part of a Dinner Cruise on the Rivership Barbara Lee. We have been on this trip 5 times , each time introducing our friends to something different to the Orlando theme parks.

The Barbara Lee named after the owners mother who unfortunately passed away with cancer cruises slowly down the St Johns River for approx. 1. 5 hours then turns around to get back to port. During this time you get to dine in a fabulous atmosphere . They serve drinks as you get on board (inclusive in price except for alcohol). Then a self serve table of fruits, salad and their famous sticky toffee pecan buns. Avoid eating too much as dinner gets served in about an hour.

Meanwhile you get chance to go up on the Middle or top deck and laze in the sun or under the many umbrellas. The ship gas 5 decks in total - we always try and book a table near the paddle wheels at the rear of the ship. A guided narrative keeps everyone interested in the wildlife and sights of the river. We have seen many alligators, turtles , Ospreys , snake birds and the occasional manatee
Drinks continue to be served by the attentive waitresses whilst you wait for your dinner to be cooked.

The food is cooked fresh onboard in the shops kitchen - they have a full working kitchen despite the small space. Once dinner is served its back to your air conditioned table to dine on either salmon, chicken or steak or all three if you are hungry - yes they even offer seconds. This is followed by a dessert and coffee.

All this with live music from the resident musician makes it an afternoon not to miss. You can either book the standard 3 hour cruise or the 4 hour.

They do run special themed cruises such as the New Orleans Jazz Cruise. The ship has plenty of good toilet facilities and is accessible for disabled.

Reasonably priced at under $50 per person we strongly recommend you go on this trip and then wander down the streets of the nearby historic town before making that short trip back to your rental property.
