Dining with Babies and Toddlers
Nearly all Disney/Orlando restaurants, whether they be in a park, a resort hotel or just located near your villa are exceptionally baby and child friendly, after all Disney is for children! The only place where you might not be welcomed with open arms with a crying baby or cranky toddler would be somewhere like a very very up market restaurant. The vast majority of restaurants are used to children of all shapes and sizes in their many varying moods and give them a great welcome.
When the girls were young we always made sure during the first few days that our evening meal was usually no later than 5. 00pm because after that they were likely to fall asleep during the meal. In fact I can remember my Aunt trying to decide where to eat one evening saying to my daughter “and where would you like to sleep tonight? ”
High chairs and booster seats are provided as standard everywhere and they will be only too pleased to warm baby jars for you if you ask. Should your baby be too small for a high chair, then you will usually be allowed to bring the buggy/stroller to the table. If you prefer and your car is nearby they allow you to bring your car seat into the restaurant.
At all restaurants there are usually crayons or puzzles provided for toddlers. I have even heard of a restaurant with paper tablecloths that children can draw on!
The children' s menu at most Disney restaurants and, in fact in a lot of Orlando restaurants can be very similar. The staples are always Macaroni and Cheese, Chicken strips and fries, hot dog, pizza or burger and fries. Our youngest girl loves this as this is where she discovered Mac n Cheese and now even takes packets of it home with her!
However most restaurants will gladly let your children share your meal you just ask for an extra plate. When we have done this we have always added a couple of dollars onto the tip to show our appreciation. Alternatively we have found they are nearly always happy to serve a half portion of an adult entrée (main course). Remember you can also swap fries for mashed potato.
Buffet restaurants offer a wide variety of food including fresh fruit and vegetables, pasta dishes, salads, meats and casseroles. Even the fussiest child can usually find something to eat here and it is easy for you to put together the food you would like your little one to eat. Remember also that children under 3 eat free!
Dining with little ones in Orlando is easy so enjoy your meals.
