Dining at WaltDisneyWorld Florida (and other things to plan ahead as they soon get booked up)
Make your reservation well in advance (90 days) on (001) - 407 - 939 – 3463. (You will not be asked for payment at this stage – you pay after your meal. )
A great fun place for a character breakfast is Donald’s Restaurantosaurus which is located in Dinoland in Animal Kingdom.
The characters go to every table for autographs and photographs (Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald Duck) and the buffet is excellent. The servers are full of fun and very entertaining. You need entry into the park for this so make it your Animal Kingdom day and get your fast track tickets for the Safari first (in Africa) and then go to eat and you will be straight onto the ride after breakfast!
Even if you are not staying in a Disney resort hotel you are welcome to eat at any of the hotels.
Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort is great for meals with the characters.
We recommend BOMA at Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner (make a reservation, arrive early, head to the back of the hotel and go outside to see all the animals –giraffes, flamingos, zebra etc, then have a cocktail in the bar above the main restaurant) and Fort Wilderness Whispering Canyon Café or if you have teenagers you could try ESPN at Boardwalk or All Stars’ Café at Wide World of Sport (this is packed with sporting memorabilia, even a speed boat hangs from the ceiling! ) You don’t need a reservation at ESPN or all Stars’ Café -check the internet for opening times.
A visit to Celebration is well worth it too – the lake is lovely and there are some great restaurants (seafood, Spanish, English and American)
Other places we like are Bahama Breeze (valet parking and great atmosphere), Ruby Tuesdays on Hwy 50 and Hwy 192 (great fresh salad bar), TGIs on 192, Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney, Chilis on Hwy 27 or 50, Sizzler on 192 (breakfast all you can eat for $4. 99), Key W Cools on Hwy 192 (upmarket food) Bob Evans on Hwy 27-great for breakfast, Subway sandwiches, best steaks at Outback to name but a few…
There is a new water park at Seaworld called Aquatica –check it out at www. aquaticabyseaworld. com. Lots of people have recommended this water park but have commented on the lack of shade.
How about swimming with Dolphins? Again book well in advance for this at www. discoverycove. com or through ticket companies
