Different Things To Do
If you want a few hours of fun but don’t want to spend a fortune why not try miniature golf (Known as Crazy Golf to us Brit’s). There are loads to choose from but one of our favourites is Congo River Miniature Golf on H192. There are two courses both with 18 holes. They are called “Stanley” and “Livingstone”. There is also a quiz to do as you go along and if you collect the right answer you get a prize. Some of the holes are quite demanding so don’t expect too many “hole in ones” You can get the usual refreshment but have a go at feeding the baby crocs on the way out.
A little more expensive but in my opinion worth every penny is one of the helicopter tours. We found a really good one on H192 that offer several flights to suit different budgets. We went up for about half an hour and it was a great see the parks from overhead, the pilot was great at pointing things out and we could even see Shamu in the holding tanks at the back of Seaworld. The only slight disappointment was that since 911 there is a no go area over the Magic Kingdom, this didn’t spoil thing as we were able to fly over all the other attraction. On our next trip we hope to do the same flight but this time at night!
We also had a great time at the “Flying Tigers Warbird Museum” It’s off 192 0n Hoagland Boulevard. Here they restore and build WW2 fighters and bombers. There are lots of planes fully and partly restored including a B-17 Flying Fortress which is absolutely massive. You can take the 1 hour guided tour if you wish but we chose to wander round on our own. There are also some old WW2 vehicles on display including the world famous Jeep. As this is a working museum it’s a little untidy but this for me adds to the surrounding nostalgia. The owner says if you see any oil on the floor it’s “Bomber Blood” There a nice little gift shop and refreshment are available. It’s really good value for money at about $9 for Adults $8 for kids and under 8s are free.
Finally you can’t visit Florida without trying Krispy Kreme Donuts, by far the best donuts in the good old US of A. Eat them hot or cold, plain or flavoured they are the best, blow the diet, your on holiday!
