DAY TRIPS FROM ORANDO
Orlando and the buzz it creates for tourists and locals alike with its heady mix of theme parks, shopping, eating and drinking is a Mecca for millions of tourists every year, but sometimes you have just got to escape from this buzz and relax a little and re gather your strength for the next round!
Most owners and guests like to fit in some time in the coastal towns and I often hear questions about where is the best place to visit.
A lot of folks head for the obvious like Clearwater Beach or, St Petersburg Beach on the Gulf Coast and also on the Atlantic coast places like Cape Canaveral. These are lovely locations but there are dozens and dozens of other paces to visit and you won’t bang into lots of tourists either. Places like St Augustine, which is North America’s oldest city is a lovely place to go for the day with a real nice feel to the place and you can visit many different and interesting sights like the lighthouse which gives you a fabulous view of the city if you have a head for heights and twisty stairs (you can rest on the way as they have little seats you can rest and look at the view so far from). Or perhaps the oldest house in North America or the Military Fort where the British were once based. There really are many other things to see and do. William Flagler also built in St Augustine at the prime of his railway days and Flagler College is a wonderful example of the old buildings to be found in St Augustine.
Another location some folks ask about is Daytona and Daytona Beach. Now speaking honestly here Daytona is maybe more for the boys in the party as it is heavy on the speedway and biking scene, plus be warned during holidays like Spring Break it is a bit crazy! However girls we have the beach. Which on a normal day you can take your vehicle onto the beach in designated areas and this is quite fun as you don’t have to lug everything from the car down to the beach and everything is to hand especially the lunch cooler! There are also some little stores you would expect to find in a beach location but the big name stores and malls are there to and not as busy as they would be over in Orlando.
