Cypress Gradens
Cypress gardens Florida is Florida’s oldest ‘Theme Park’.
To get there you take I4 west to exit 55 or if you are travelling along Hwy 27 you go south. You travel along until you reach state road 540 ‘cypress gardens boulevard’ this is a right turn. The park is about 4 or 5 miles along this road.
Cypress Gardens was closed for a short while and had a much needed upgrade.
The park its self has beautiful gardens as you would expect and the floral arrangements change seasonally Christmas is particularly a beautiful time to visit. There are lots of new attractions there now and they do have lots of concerts and events happening at different times of the year. Young ladies in southern costumes walk around the gardens these are called the ‘’Southern belles’’. You can purchase the southern belle costumes for children in the park or you can have your photo taken in the costume.
There are now lots of rides and roller coasters for the whole family to enjoy . My husbands favourite is the thunderbolt it lifts you high up in the air then just as you take a breath looking out to the spectacular scenery the ride drops you down believe me it leaves you with your heart in your mouth this ride is not for the faint hearted.
When we were there in April it was announced that a new ride called the star liner will be opened in July 07 this is a wooden roller coaster.
There is also a steel roller coaster called the Okeechobee Rampage this ride is a fast ride and it does have a height restriction but it is not the Hulk kind or ride in universal it’s a bit more tame but good for people that do not like the bigger rides but don’t want to miss out on all the fun. There are lots more rides at cypress gardens.
At Cypress Gardens they have regular water ski shows some of the performers are said to be champion water-skiers. We have been most impressed with the shows we have seen there.
There are several areas for food catering for all tastes you can dine at the adventure grill where they serve hot dogs, burgers ect or you can try Aunt Julies country kitchen this is a buffet restaurant were there is something for everyone
In my opinion I think Cypress gardens is a very pleasant day out for all the family.
