Cruises at St Johns Pass
If you decide to have a break from the magical world of Walt Disney in Orlando try heading towards the St Petersburg or Clearwater areas on the Gulf Coast. These are less than a two hour drive from Orlando but seem a world away with their laid back atmosphere and miles of golden beaches.
Whilst there if you fancy a short cruise go to Hubbard’s Marina at St John’s Pass on Madeira Beach.
The Dolphin Cruise is very popular with visitors of all ages. This departs daily from the docks at 1pm - 3pm - 5pm. We sometimes go on the 5. 00pm one then we come back and eat at one of the many restaurants there is to choose from in the St John’s Pass area. Prices for the Dolphin Watch cruise are as follows:
Adults: $16. 82
Children (11 & under): $8. 41

You go on the big blue 80-passenger catamaran tour boat, The Sea Adventure. It boasts that it is the “largest, safest, and most stable dolphin watch boat in the Tampa Bay area. ” The boat has comfortable seating, restrooms, and an onboard snack-bar selling cold soft drinks, beer and snacks.
During the cruise you will see a variety of Florida’s native birds such as pelicans, egrets, herons, osprey as well as bald eagles. Apparently Manatees are occasionally seen although we have never been lucky enough to see one.
Do take your camera with you as you will have lots of opportunities to take fabulous photos on this trip. The Captain will take you through a historic commercial fishing village and past several spectacular waterfront homes and estates. The whole time be sure to look out for the Dolphins.
If you want to see a great sunset go on a Sunset Cruise. These depart daily at 5 pm in the winter
