Crazy Golf
During every holiday we have ever had – from Bridlington to Florida (oh excluding Hong Kong) we have always played crazy golf with the kids. It has always been a fun way for all of the family to participate, although I have to say hubby does take it a little too serious.
Anyway there are dozens of crazy golf courses around Orlando and I think we have tried most of them over the years!
Our favourite ones are of course the Disney Winter Summerland at Blizzard Beach and the one at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel. The Winter Summerland crazy golf course is situated just before the entrance to Blizzard Beach. There is a choice of two courses one a summer theme and the other a winter theme. If you complete one you can go onto the second one for half the price which we have done in the past. As you would expect with Disney the courses are filled with characters and kept very clean with lots of benches to rest on between holes. There are lots of surprises with one or two water features – beware you can get wet! The courses do get busy during the day but when we were out at Christmas we made this part of our Christmas treat for the kids. When we had done the usual Christmas morning things and had breakfast we took them to the golf – we had great fun and it broke the day up from the usual things we do on Christmas day.
The golf at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel is divided into two parts – one a crazy golf course and the other a more advanced putting green – its called Fantasia Gardens and well worth a visit. Beware during the middle of the day when it is very hot it can be too much for the kids. If a thunderstorm starts during your game you can get your money back or take a raincheck for another time.
Last time we went we visited Pirates Cove which can be seen from I4 and looks quite impressive. It took us ages one evening to find the entrance so try and get directions before setting off because it is quite busy with traffic there. The course itself, again is divided into two courses and quite frankly one was enough to do in one evening. Again it is a busy course and all too often you end up waiting for the people in front to finish. (We were unlucky as the people in front were a party of 12 and although no more then 6 were allowed they had obviously joined up once they had started).
There are numerous other crazy golf courses on the 192 and often they give out a voucher at the end to encourage you to either play again or return within a few days.
Crazy golf is a great way of spending quality family time together and quite often even the non golfer of the family wins much to the amusement of the rest of us.
