Coconut Creek Family Fun Park
The beach area around Panama City, with its clear emerald water, sugar white sand and warm gulf breezes continues to be an extremely popular summer destination for holidaymakers and Coconut Creek which is located just across the Hathaway Bridge on US30, is a mere stone’s throw away from the hotels and condominiums stretched out along the waterfront.
This not might quite be on the grand scale of Walt Disney World or Busch Gardens, but, as an alternative to the beach and its water sports, Coconut Creek Family Fun Park provides a warm welcome to individuals and families alike looking for a little bit of adventure and enjoyment.
The park has a tropical island theme complete with relaxing music, and is beautifully landscaped with cascading waterfalls, babbling streams and native plants.
On offer are two challenging eighteen hole mini golf courses and a most fantastic maze for an all inclusive entry fee of around $15.
The mini golf maintains the tropical theme but is also reminiscent of an African Safari with elephants, giraffes and gorillas (not real I may add) to encounter along the way. Players also explore ‘Good Luck Lake’ and ‘Moon Mountain’ as well as negotiating rope bridges and dark caves.
The Gran Maze is constructed of large white panels covering a huge area about the size of a football field and has more of a Polynesian theme. Immediately upon entering this giant labyrinth it becomes patently obvious that it really is a test of your navigational skills. I should, at this point, quickly mention that a visit to the restroom may be a good idea before setting out.
The objective is to find the four hidden checkpoints before exiting and, to add a little competitive edge to proceedings, why not consider the kids taking on mum and dad, or working as a team to reach the exit in record time.
The location of the four checkpoints and exit point are changed constantly so every visit presents a new and different challenge.
From a safety perspective a number of spotters are perched high above the maze in Polynesian styled shelters and are on hand to ensure no one becomes distressed or feels disorientated.
As an added bonus park tickets are valid for the following day up to 5pm, so if you feel inclined to take on a fresh challenge Coconut Creek Family Fun Park will be ready to welcome you once again
