Cirque de Soleil - La Nouba
If you have never been to a Cirque performance before, you are in for a real treat. Be prepared for the unimaginable, the amazing feats and a superabundance of entertainers who will take your breath away. If you are visiting Orlando, this is definitely one show that you must not miss. The ticket prices may seem a little steep, especially for a family, but please believe me when I say that it really is worth every cent.
Cirque Du Soleil is situated in Downtown Disney, Westside and is performed twice each evening. The show lasts approximately two hours although it certainly does not feel like it, the time just passes in a flash! If you definitely plan on seeing the show I would advise purchasing your tickets in advance to avoid any disappointments.
Acts include clowns, dancing on a hire-wire, balancing on chairs, a flying trapeze, an aerial ballet with silk, trampolines and cycles. But do not be mislead, this is no ordinary circus. Colourful costumes, dazzling lights, strange haunting music all add to the magic that is cast over the spell bound audience. At times it almost feels as though you are in a dream.
There is so much to see, so much activity on the stage, blink and you could miss something. At times it was difficult to know where to look. Suddenly someone would drop from the ceiling without any warning, whilst at the same time someone else would appear in a spotlight high up at the back of the stage or a third person would wander across from one side of the stage to the other.
One of my favourite acts is the Diabolos. Four very young Chinese girls working skilfully with the diabolos whilst at the same time performing acrobatics. Now this might not sound very exciting but you really have to see it to believe it. We sat transfixed in our seats unable to believe the dexterity of these small girls, their athletic expertise and their beauty and grace.
Another favourite act of mine are the trampoline performers, as they bounce up the sides of buildings, diving through the open windows with perfect precision. The whole act appears to take no effort at all but the coordination that is required to perform these feats must be incredible.
I really do not think that you can compare Cirque du Soleil with anything else you will have ever seen. Nobody can prepare you for the spectacle you are about to witness; you really have to experience it for yourself. It will be one performance that you will never forget and the memories will be with you forever.
