Choosing Your location
To get the best out of your holiday you need to choose the right location for your particular needs.
You may have noticed that all the villas seem to be no more than 10 to 15 minutes away from Disney.
Well the truth is, they are. That is because there are now so many different entrances to the Walt Disney World complex, where ever your villa is located it will have an entrance very near by.
If you are a group of golfers, you will want to either be on a golf course or be on a complex very near to one. There are several locations to choose from that are either on or near one of the 160 golf courses.
If you want to enjoy a drink or two with your dinner, then you will need to book a villa that is within walking distance of the restaurants. Do please be aware that the drink drive laws in Florida are even harsher than our own here in the UK. They have a virtually zero tolerance to drinking and driving so if in doubt, do not have any alcohol before driving. They are also wise to people getting very drunk in the evening and then driving still under the influence the next morning. Be warned!
If you like solitude you can pick a villa on a tranquil location or even on a suburban location. These tend to be quieter as the residents have to work the next day. The noisier locations will often be the ones situated on complexes which have communal pools, club houses and restaurants on site with play grounds especially for the children.
Gated communities do not have any really special advantages as they are still free for any one to enter so the security is in reality not any better than any where else. Reassuringly however, crime is not very high in Orlando.
The only thing you will not get at any of the locations is transport to the Disney parks without a car. Walt Disney world is 43 square miles in size and public transport can only take you to the entrance of the complex and NOT the park you may wish to visit. Going in on the West entrance will take you to Animal Kingdom in about a five minute car ride, but to get to the Magic Kingdom or Epcot could well be another fifteen minute drive. Once inside the Disney area, there are very few pavements to walk on so a car is an essential. If you really have no option than not to drive than you would need to take taxis every where – a touch expensive to say the least.
So look very closely at where the villa you wish to book is situated and ask the owner the questions you need to know about what you will need out of the villa. They are always happy to help.
