Chevys Tex-Mex - Old Kissimmee (on the 192)
Having been a fan of hot spicy food since I was a young lad, I do like to eat in good tasting Mexican restaurants.
If you love fresh produce Chevy’s TEX-MEX is the place to dine. All the dishes are made with home made ingredients and don’t taste anything like the OLD- EL PASO mixes we have back home. They taste ten times better!
Getting to Chevy’s TEX-MEX could not be simpler, follow the 192 past Medieval times and the large Walmart (on your right), follow the road for another 2 miles and on the restaurant is on the left hand side. There is plenty of parking available around the back if needed. At Chevy’s you can dine either inside or outside, for us it is too hot in the summer months to eat outside and is always better inside as they have air-conditioning.
The menu itself takes around 10 minutes to navigate (as it is so big! ). They do a full range of Mexican food, some that we all know from back home and some house specials that have been created by the Chevy’s chefs. On both occasions I have chosen one of the Chevy’s platters, a mixture of three dishes (Fajita, nachos/ taco’s and burrito) all for $12.99. Warning, this dish is not for those people who are on a diet as it is a real struggle to finish.
Before each of the main meals arrive they give you a large bowl of nacho’s and their special freshly made house salsa, this is a great idea as it is free and you can get more if you want. I have only had the starters once in Chevy’s, this was because it was our first time and we did not know how big the main meals were going to be, since then we have stuck to the free nacho’s and main meals.
Service in Chevy’s is the best you will find on the 192, they pride themselves on good customer service and each of the staff is always happy to help. If someone in your party is having a birthday, tell the waiter and they normally come back and sing and dance at your table (Mexican style! ).
Cost wise the restaurant is good value for money, the dishes are very big and the price you pay is cheap compared to some steakhouses. A dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine was $30.
Overall I would rate Chevy’s as the best Mexican style restaurant and bar in Orlando, it has a great atmosphere and a good value for money menu. This linked with the great service and you have a winning formula in my view.
