Celebration
When Celebration was first built we thought it was a bit “Stepford Wives”, it all seemed so perfect, rocking chairs on the porch, lovely white picket fences, grass always beautifully cut and so green and even flowers that appeared to stand upright. Like a lot of people, we were curious about the quirky shops, of course thought that there was no possibility we would ever buy anything from a shop there – but we did. We also thought Celebration would not be where we would choose to eat – but we did. We thought we’d certainly never sit rocking by the lake, surely that was for old people ? – but we did and now, well ! we love Celebration and would like to share a couple of reasons why.
One of our favourite walks is around the Celebration Lakes. We start our walk by the fountains outside the cinema and amble around the big lake marveling at the wildlife there and taking photos, we were even lucky enough to see some dear in the woods to the left of the lake recently, they only looked like baby dear but we could see them quite clearly through the trees along with the gathering onlookers. We cut through the woodland to the next smaller lake with houses on one side and think how lucky those home owners are to live with such calm and serene surroundings. The third lake we come to never fails to astonish us since overlooking this waterway are the most magnificent and enormous houses, all individually designed and built with cost, in our world, posing no boundaries. We walk around this lake for the front of these houses allowing our imagination to run wild and wondering how it would be if we owned one of these ! yeah right ! ! The road these houses are on is called East Lawn and some of the houses along East Lawn overlook another smaller lake at the front so they have water views both front and rear, how wonderful.
On leaving East Lawn we turn right and make our way along the road back to the village for a well earned rest with a Starbucks Coffee.
Another great facility for my husband and I is The Fitness Centre and Spa at Celebration Hospital. The gym and spa is located inside the hospital, a strange place to have a gym you might think, but not so strange when you see how they have cleverly incorporated therapeutic exercise for patients with general exercise for the public. Anyone can go there and take up a weekly, 2 weekly or monthly membership. Their rates are very reasonable but the longer you join for the better the rate. The facilities are amazing – on the first floor there are lots of cardiovascular exercise machines with television screens for you to focus on while sweating it out. The second floor is more cardiovascular plus weights and machines to work every conceivable part of your body, all these machines are located around a full size basketball court. There are two rooms on this floor where classes are held at various times of every day to suit every age group and fitness level. On the ground floor is a fabulous 25 meter indoor lap pool where there are aqua classes at certain times but it’s a great pool to get a good swimming session in. There is also a Therapy Pool which is heated to 92 degrees and has 10 high pressure jets, this pool can be used by the public too and is great if you have any aches and pains. In the changing rooms is a sauna and steam room, showers and, what is so nice, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body cream, hairdryers, tissues and even mouthwash if all provided free of charge. There is also a beauty spa but all the facilities are currently undergoing a refurbishment which will incorporate a better beauty spa and salon and, I think, a Nike Shop so I will look forward to my next trip to see it all finished.
These are just two reasons why we go to Celebration but there are lots more. We eat, drink, walk, exercise and shop at Celebration and hope others will take the time during their vacation to enjoy Celebration and its facilities as much as we do.
