Cassadaga Spiritual Retreat
If you want something different on your Florida holiday away from the theme parks and the hustle and bustle of Orlando why not visit Cassadaga Psychic Village which is located at
Exit 114 on I4 - but don’t be disappointed if the residents of this spiritual retreat are not expecting you! It did not however, spoil the experience we had that day.
On walking around the village we avoided the dead end streets with their quaint homes but noticed all the trinkets, charms, beads, lanterns and wind chimes hanging from the trees and porches. Our visit coincided with Halloween and most of the homes were decorated with pumpkins, witches and ghosts. Several of the houses looked derelict, but with a $55 charge for a half hour psychic reading perhaps the residents were holidaying in Vegas!
The Hotel on the main street is described in the pamphlet as a ‘Beautiful Hotel and Sanctuary built in 1927’ and probably the décor has not been changed much since that date! It was very old and eerie with dark corridors and an unnerving quietness. It reminded us of Bates’ Hotel in the film Psycho. The Hotel can accommodate 100 guests for private parties, tours and other special events. You are able to book an evening Tour of the Village to experience and learn about the residents interesting way of life.
The Hotel offered a variety of spiritual experiences such as Tarot, Regression, Reiki, Séances, Grief Counselling and a phone reading service is also available - in fact everything one might require on a holiday.
Inside the Hotel was the ‘Lost in Time Café’, very appropriately named, offering a full and varied cuisine. The café was a little dark and somewhat daunting, but the good news is, it is only open twice a week, so choose your days carefully! You have been warned.
On your way out of the café be sure to notice the Meditation station - Cassadaga’s one and only meditation station located in the Hotel Lobby. ‘Take a moment to revive your energy through your body, mind and spirit’
On your way out of the Village look out for the Rolling Heads Asylum sign on your right as you exit. We did not venture in.
This is our second visit to the Village and it is an acquired taste, but we find it fascinating and strangely relaxing. We also enjoy the journey and on our way back to reality visit Christmas, a charming town with an all year round Christmas shop.
