The Tutu Tango Experience
Fancy something a little different from the usual American dining experience of pile it high portions?
Want to eat somewhere where the focus is on variety rather than quantity?
Café Tutu Tango is a vibrant, fun and constantly surprising place for an exciting and intimate meal. We found out about it from some local friends who have always steered us in the right direction when it comes to really special places to eat.
There’s more to eating here than just being fed. Tutu Tango is a feast for the eyes too.
The centre of the restaurant is used by artists to create their paintings and sculptures right in front of you. These artworks then adorn the restaurant, and can be purchased for that more unlikely holiday souvenir or gift. This gives the restaurant an ever-changing appeal, and an entertainment factor too.
Later on the entertainment turns to music, dancing and vivid cultural costumes as the tempo picks up.
The food is served tapas style, so you get to order a little of everything you fancy to share with your friends, and you get to eat at the pace you want to. The emphasis is on a procession small amounts of really exquisite dishes for you to sample in turn.
There’s a really great choice of food, and everything we tried was an experience for the taste buds. After a selection of starters, we ordered Smoked Chicken Quesadillas, Cuban Grilled Steak Skewers, Mango Duck Quesadillas, Baby Chipotle Lobster Tails and a few other mouth watering temptations between four of us.
Each dish was brought to us in turn, and we were asked how quickly we wanted each selection so we could take our time or speed up as we liked. This is a much more civilized way to eat and we felt well fed but not too full.
The really great thing is you don’t have to order it all at the start, you just try some and then decide if you want something else. As the night went on, our sense of adventure increased, and we tried dishes that we would probably not have in a more traditional restaurant. Food is more exciting this way and as each dish was finished, we were already anticipating the next one.
The atmosphere is cosy and intimate, although at times lively and exciting and the service is welcoming, friendly and unhurried. This is a great place to go for a group of friends or family whether your looking for a quiet meal or a party atmosphere.
There’s eating and there’s feasting. If it’s fun and adventure you want, this is the place.
Café Tutu Tango is located on International Drive, near the Wonderworks end, and wherever you’re staying it’s worth the journey. We would definitely recommend it and we’ll be going back!
