Florida Guide > Accommodation
Booking a Florida villa direct with the owner.
With so many villas for rent out there it can be difficult to know where to start to book a villa or vacation home, as they are known in the U. S, for your Florida break.
Step one has to be to find a good advertising site such as Orlando Villas or one of its sister sites. Reputable ones will have contact details so that you can get in touch with the site owners if you need to ask any questions although the actual rental agreement is usually directly with the owners concerned. Some sites such as this one also have a verification system so that you know that the homes listed on it are actually owned by the person who says they own it.
Most sites will offer a wide selection of homes with differing features but the quality of homes on offer can vary widely. You will need to look carefully at the individual adverts to make sure that the home you choose meets your family’s requirements. This can be time consuming so if the site offers a “general enquiry” option it may be worth going down this route to narrow your choice of homes to the ones that have availability for the dates you want.
Once you have chosen the villa you would like to book you will need to contact the owner concerned as soon as possible. Don’t forget that booking a villa is not like booking a hotel room where there may be hundreds of similar rooms on offer, individually owned homes are unique, even if an owner has more than one property for rent the chance of them both being identical is slim, so if you’ve found a favourite book it as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Peak dates such as Christmas and Easter as well as school holiday periods can book up quickly, sometimes as much as 2 years in advance.
Usually the owner will send you a booking form either by email or by post; this should be completed and returned with a deposit to secure your booking. That’s about it, it couldn’t be simpler.
Booking direct with the owner definitely has benefits over booking through an agent. You will know exactly where you are staying and you can always ask the owner for advice regarding your holiday for example is there a hairdryer in the home? Where is the closest supermarket? Can you recommend a decent take away? The list is endless but you can be sure that you will be speaking to the person who can best answer your questions. Cutting out the middle man also means you will get excellent value for your hard earned cash.
Booking directly with the villa owner is definitely the way to go. Have fun choosing!
