Bibbidi Bobbiddi Boutique at Disney, Orlando
I bet even the oldest of us ladies has, at some time, had a sneaking desire to be a princess. Well, if you now have little girls whose only wish is to be Cinderella, or Snow White then you can make her dream come true at the Bibbiddi Bobbiddi Boutique at either Downtown Disney, Orlando, or at Cinderella’s Castle in Magic Kingdom, Orlando.
This wonderful boutique first opened in Downtown Disney in April, 2006, with a second boutique opening in the Castle in September 2007. Here, your little girls can be transformed into their dream princess by their Fairy Godmother in Training, including hair, nails, make-up, Princess dress and shoes, tiara, sash, crown and wand. Of course, when all this has been done you may need to add in the photo package so that your little princess has a lasting memento of the day.
The boutique is, of course, equally regal and magical, with huge mirrors, chandeliers and sparkly curtains, plus lots of princess costumes. When you arrive you are greeted by a Fairy Godmother who asks your child’s name, and of course, from then onwards she is called ‘Princess. ’ Inside the boutique there are several Fairy Godmothers who transform the little girls. After changing into their princess costume, complete with wand, tiara and shoes, the make-over begins. A large pink apron is put on before the hair is started. Be prepared for sparkly gel to be put on the hair – it does make the hair quite stiff – and this is then completed by the tiara or crown.
There are several different options, with different styles within these packages:
The Coach Makeover includes the hairstyle and make-up. You can buy your little girl’s outfit beforehand and she will be given a Princess Sash. This costs around $50 plus tax and is the most economical package. You can save a lot of money by buying the outfit elsewhere.
The Crown Makeover includes a choice of hair style, make-up, plus nails and is a little more at around $55 plus tax.
The ultimate package is, of course, the Castle Makeover and this includes the full works – hairstyle, Shimmering Make-up, Nails, Princess Sash, costume, shoes, crown, wand and the Imaging Package which includes one 6 x 8 and four 4 x 6 photos in a themed holder. Of course this comes at a price – from around $190 - $250 plus tax. The cost depends on the choice of costume and shoes.
Within these packages there is a choice of hair style including Pop Princess, Fairytale Princess or Disney Diva. Downtown Disney is also offering the Disney’s Secret Star package which is a Hannah Montana Makeover. This costs around $110 and includes a wig, headset, t-shirt, make-up kit, guitar purse and a commemorative photo.
These makeovers are only available to children aged 3 or more, and their hair must be freshly washed and tangle free – you must take your own brush and comb. No hairsprays, gels or styling agents should have been used before the appointment. Nails, too, must be clean and free of nail varnish. It goes without saying that the child must be free of any infections – or infestations!
The boutique at the Castle in Magic Kingdom is open from 8. 00 am until 7. 00 pm daily, but you will need park admission as well. The boutique in Downtown Disney is open from 9. 30 – 6. 00 pm daily. Because this is so popular it is advisable to book your appointment in advance to avoid disappointment, and I would suggest that you book an early appointment so that your little princess can enjoy being the centre of attention all day. Don’t forget to bring your camera – especially to capture the look on her face when she turns round and sees herself in the mirror for the first time! You are allowed to take a camcorder with you, too, to capture the whole event. Each little princess is given a little bag with nail varnish, lip gloss, a make-up palette and stick on face decorations.
The best bit is that, as you wander round the park, the Cast members will make a point of greeting her as a Princess, and some will even bow or curtsey to her. It’s certainly the stuff of fairytales.
