Best Park for Teenagers – Islands of Adventure!
Having just recently returned from Orlando with my 14 year old step son I have seen the parks through his eyes.
As he has not been before we let him pick where he wanted to go and which parks to do. First on the list was Islands of adventure.
We headed straight to Hulk. He loved this ride. Being shot out of that purple tube, then being thrown upside down followed by a diving loop is certainly one way to wake you up! A short while later we were climbing off the ride – his reaction – Let’s go again!
We decided to come back to Hulk as the park was getting busier so we wanted to get all the rides done. Next stop - Storm Force Accelerator. This is basically a faster teacups and saucer ride. I missed this one out but sat laughing as my husband and son kept spinning the cup they were on. A few minutes later 2 green members staggered off and headed straight to Dr Doom’s Fearfall. Everyone went on this one and although the queue is sometimes short moving it is well worth the wait. The waiting is the worse part of this ride, just as you begin to relax you get fired up the towers and what a view when you get up there! Next up was Spiderman. There are no words to describe this ride and do it the justice it deserves. It is simply amazing and so clever!
Onto the next ‘land’ and the boys were chomping at the bit to get wet. So Dudley Do Rights was the ride of choice, I waited with the bags and happily paid to blast them with the water cannon as they were getting off – they just didn’t look quite wet enough to me! Then we went onto Popeye and Bluto’s water ride. Out of every ride in all the there parks this is my favourite. I tried to explain to my step son that he would get soaked but he didn’t believe me. His face when he was heading down the drop with his back to the water was a picture!
When we climbed off and had finished ringing out our clothes we trotted on to the Jurassic Park river adventure. More water here so it’s a good job we were already wet. After that, the duelling dragon’s were next. We rode both Fire and Ice, I prefer Fire BTW! This dried us out quite well, it was like being in a spin drier.
Seuss’s Landing is lost on teenagers, there are no real ‘grown up’ rides to go on so that was missed and we went straight back to the Hulk!
We did do all the other parks as well, but everyone agreed that this is the park for teenagers!
