Beaches and Cream Soda Shop
Beaches and Cream is located between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club near the pool. Not everyone would think of dining at a Disney Resort restaurant but you would be missing out on a unique experience if you gave this one a miss.
Beaches and Cream is a small but comfortable, charming 50’s style soda shop serving all-American favourites including hamburgers, beef hot dogs, prime rib subs, chicken noodle soup, onion rings, classic sundaes, floats and the famous ‘Kitchen Sink’ dessert. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are available with prices fairly inexpensive. Their specialities are the milkshakes - they are to die for!
The atmosphere is lively and energetic, the only down side is that it can get a bit crowded and noisy at busy periods. Your servers are dressed in 50’s costumes and a real jukebox creates a fun rock ’n’ roll time with songs by Elvis, Perry Como, Bobby Darin and the Supremes.
If the restaurant is busy inside, there are outside tables in the style of ice cream cones or you can get orders to go if you wish.
We generally visit Beaches and Cream if we have been to Disney’s Boardwalk as it is a leisurely 15 minute stroll around the lake or you can take the free boat across to the other side. We often just visit for an ice-cream sundae, my favourite being the classic banana split.
If you are feeling adventurous, why not try the famous ‘Kitchen Sink’ Sundae. It includes every flavour of ice-cream they serve together with bananas, cookies, brownies, candy bars, cake and to top it all off, whipped cream and cherries. All of this comes served in a dish shaped to look like a metal kitchen sink, hence the name. If you can eat it all by yourself in one hour, you get it for free! Now there’s a first, something from Disney for free. If you succeed you will receive a certificate to say that you are a member of the ‘Kitchen Sink Club’, signed by Mickey, and probably a stomach ache for the rest of the afternoon!
So if you find yourself nearby at Disney’s Boardwalk or perhaps in World Showcase at Epcot (leave by the exit in between the United Kingdom pavilion and France), it’s definitely worth a stop. You will find quality fast food with excellent service. What more could you ask for?
