Beaches and Cream Restaurant

Beaches and Cream Restaurant
Part of the Disney’s Beach Club resort at Disney world is a lovely little American 50’s style diner Beaches and Cream. You can walk to it from the Boardwalk or park in the Beach club car park. They offer a full American diner menu including burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches and a super selection of desserts and sundaes.

It’s a great place for kids of all ages, as long as you are not watching your waist line. As you would expect from a Disney restaurant the staff are friendly and there is a great atmosphere. I wasn’t around in the 50’s but I’ve seen the Fonz in “Happy Days” so know this looked a pretty good replica of a 50’s diner cum ice cream parlour with the jukebox. We had counter seats, it would have been a longer wait otherwise, but this did give us the chance to see the staff preparing the food and boy does it whet your appetite. I had the burger well stacked with the normal toppings and a dreamy strawberry milkshake both of which I can highly recommend. My wife had the turkey club sandwich which was very well filled and although she enjoyed it couldn’t quite finish it.

The main events however are the desserts and sundaes’, including Banana split, fudge mud slide, classic sundae and the Milky Way sundae but the crowning glory is the kitchen sink. For about $26 enough dessert for 4 – 6 people the kitchen sink resembles something you would find on the 'Man v Food' TV programme with 8 big scoops of ice cream and every topping you can imagine including a whole can of whipped cream served in a mini kitchen sink. The presentation of this to a guest sets the alarms off literally as the waitresses herald another challenger calling out the contents of the dish and topped with “a whole can of whipped cream” which is repeated by the whole restaurant.

The restaurant is quite small and doesn’t have a great deal of seating, so you may have to wait to get a table, we went on a Sunday evening and had to wait an hour. You will get a buzzer so you can have a wander around the wonderful pool area with its full size windmill as a centre piece. But there is a take away service if you want to sample the sundaes without the wait.
