Bass Pro Shops – Outdoor World
If you are looking for somewhere a little bit different to visit during your Orlando holiday why not head to the Bass Pro Shop/Outdoor World at the junction of International Drive and Oakridge Road (I. Ride trolley stop 2).
This store is the ultimate store for the outdoor enthusiast whether your interest is golf, boating, water sports, fishing, camping or hunting then everything you could need can be found inside or outside if you fancy taking home a boat or jet ski! The inside of the store resembles a large wooden hunting lodge with various stuffed animals dotted around the place and it is crammed to the rafters with a huge variety of products.
The store has a huge range of equipment on display including some you would be hard pushed to find on general sale in the UK. There is the usual range outdoor clothing for every possible sporting activity imaginable alongside the more unusual array of sporting and camping equipment including guns, hunting knives even crossbows as well as a full range of ammunition. You will find everything you could possibly need for the ultimate camping trip from chemical toilets to coolers to top of the range gas BBQ’s. The store is enormous and it would take you well over an hour to just wander up and down each aisle even if you didn’t stop to inspect any of the goods on sale. There is even a range of equipment for the less serious sports such as paint balling.
There are lots of experts on hand to offer advice or instruction on various products and there are regular educational events held throughout the year. At the weekends throughout the summer they run conservation and education seminars in conjunction with the staff of Gatorland to provide information concerning the wild animals that can be found in and around central Florida. You may even be lucky enough to stumble across a fly fishing demonstration taking place at the giant freshwater aquarium that is located in the centre of the store. There are also marine workshops that cover basic and advanced information about the operation of hand held GPS systems and Camping workshops that include demonstrations and tasting of various cooking methods for you to try on your next camping trip or family event including frying, smoking and grilling. The dishes cooked and samples available do vary from week to week and the times and dates are subject to the weather so if you are interested in attending any of these events it may be worth checking out the website at www. basspro. com and selecting Orlando from the list on the “Stores” tab. Definitely something a little different than the usual Orlando attractions and well worth a visit.
