Aquatica
The much awaited completion of Sea Worlds new water park Aquatica is expected in Spring 2008.
Covering 60 acres of land it is said to feature the most thrilling water rides in the world. With 36 water slides, six rivers and lagoons, and more than 80, 000 square feet of beach area. The children’s pool alone will hold 79, 000 gallons of water.
SeaWorld states that their signature attraction will plunge riders “in clear tubes through a crystal-blue lagoon with black-and-white Commerson’s dolphins. Guests feel as if they are flying beneath the sea among these beautiful animals. ”
Aquatica will have rides for kids of all ages including colorful eight-lane racing slides, triple-drop raft rides, and a 6 story family ride that the entire group can enjoy. You'll also find the rivers of Aquatica that offer pure thrill, jetting riders through rolling rapids, racing waters and rushing geysers.
Aquatica’s winding rivers will offer visitors two different journeys. One river will carry guests through gentle waterfalls, past exotic birds and into an undersea grotto filled with colourful fish, while an adjacent river will offer thrill rides through rapids and geysers.
They will also have the world’s only side-by-side wave lagoons that can be operated together or independently encompass 860, 000 gallons of water lined by wide, sandy beaches. The high-energy lagoon features crashing waves with 5-foot swells, while the other lagoon provides gently rolling surf.
All aboard the double raft ride, where guests can team up on double inner tubes and take a journey four 5-story slides filled with drops curves tunnels and water curtains. You could also experience the triple drop ride where rafters experience triple the thrill and a sense of weightlessness as they raft down a 6-storey, 250-foot long, triple-drop ride.
And then when you’ve had enough of the water rides why not relax in the 80, 000 square feet of beach provided by SeaWorld for guests to chill out and recharge their batteries.
Jim Atchison, manager at SeaWorld, Orlando, said: “We are famous for immersing guests in the mystery of the sea and its animals, and Aquatica takes this immersion to a new level, inviting guests to play in, over and under the water. ” He has also stated that because of it's sheer size, guests won't have to wait very long in lines or in the restaurants. We will have to wait and see on that though. And so far there is no mention with regard to the entrance cost for the park.
This is definitely one to watch out for and I can imagine will be very popular when it opens next year. I for one will be waiting at it’s gates next Easter.
