ANIMAL KINGDOM, DISNEYWORLD, FLORIDA
What a fabulous place this is. Animal Kingdom has everything you could wish for to entertain and excite all age groups. From Safaris to Water Rides to thrill rides interspersed with flamboyant shows, Animal Kingdom caters for every taste in entertainment.
As a family of four we have enjoyed many visits to Animal Kingdom over the past few years and never seem to be disappointed with the park. As the animals are normally resting during the heat of the day we found that arriving early at the park is the best way to enjoy the Kilimanjaro Safaris and see a variety of animals including the Rhino, cheetah, wildebeest, elephants and giraffes which venture right up to the truck that you are sitting in.
The park is divided up into areas and the majority of the wildlife is in the African section although throughout the park there are lots of birds and areas to see animals including a section that you can stand and watch the funny antics of the monkeys who never seem to rest. A particular favourite with our children is the Asia sector which has the Kali River Rapids but be prepared to get really wet on this fast but safe ride.
When our children were younger they enjoyed Dinoland which has a play maze and the area is a fun space where they can run around quite safely while we sat at the edge and took a well earned rest.
One of the highlights of the park is the musical show Festival of the Lion King which is a truly spectacular show and definitely a must on a visit. A little hint, if your child is quite outgoing and wants to get involved with the show make sure you look out at the beginning as cast members ask for volunteers to participate. Actually there are quite a number of shows worth visiting and although Tarzan Rocks was not there this time it has been replaced by another entertaining show called Finding Nemo the Musical. The younger ones particularly will enjoy this.
There are a number of thrill rides for the older kids as well including Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl (a roller coaster) and Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain.
Without a doubt our favourite show at the Animal Kingdom is It’s Tough to be a Bug. A 3D show with fabulous effects – great fun for all of us.
A great park but without a doubt is one of the parks that needs to be visited early to get the most from it.
