After Dragons Challenge at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
By the exit of Dragons Challenge there is a shelter with seats, so you are able to protect and cool down from the sun. There are souvenir shops up the village full of Harry Potter merchandise. You can even buy the school Uniform. On the right side of the street there is an animal shop and then Ollivanders. You may walk past and think this is just a wand shop but its more. Once finished queuing, you will enter a room with about 20 people. There are boxes of wands everywhere in different coloured boxes and a small counter with a lamp. A man dressed in red and brown checked robes and a black hat will select a young child. He will ask the child for their name and then take a measurement with his arm whilst speaking to the audience about the wands. The man will then select a wand and explain what it does. He’ll then get the young child to swish and flick the wand, saying “Wingaurdium leviossa”! Boxes of wands to the right of the audience will light up and fall to their side. He then says “reparo” and the wands are back to normal, meaning this wand is not for that child. Another wand is picked but this time the child says “lumos” again not doing anything right. Music starts to play as the man looks for the last wand. After being passed to the child a light draft wind appears along with a light. Hey! This is the right wand! The man gives the child an opportunity to purchase the wand.
If you were not chosen for this but still want a wand do not worry! Once you proceed to the next room, there are thousands to choose from. You can find the correct wand for you by making your choice by the month and date of you birthday. Staff are happy to help you pick if help is needed.
The shop next to Ollivanders is Flourish and Blotts, unfortunately you can not enter this but you can look into the shop window where there are moving pictures of Gildiloy Lockhart. The small path through the village opens up to a big arena and in the corner there is a stage for performances of the Hogwarts choir singing, The Triwazrd Spirit Rally and more.
Make a 180 degree turn, you can see a snowman dressed in Gryffindor robes, a hat, a long pointy nose made out of a carrot and an owl is resting on his arm. This is a place to take a picture of the Hogwarts castle and you can see the whole building. Each pointed tower, every arched window is breath taking, it’s an experience of a life time!
