Florida Guide > Shopping
A different place to shop!
If you are staying in a villa on the Highway 27, particularly if you are situated north of the Highway 192 junction, you are only a short drive from the town of Clermont.
Just before you reach Clermont, on the left hand side, is a department store that is little known to Brits, yet has an excellent rage of merchandise and is excellent value for money. It is called Kohls.
There is ample parking outside and whenever we have shopped there it is remarkably quiet and shopping is therefore completely stress free!
The store has everything you could want. Clothing – ladies, mens and childrens – a vast array, including underwear and footwear. Jewellery and gifts, homewares including kitchen ware, towels and bedding. And. . . . . much more!
As is often seen in Floridian department stores, there are always sales or special offers! Sometimes it will be 2 for the price of one offers, at other times large percentage reductions on single items. Whatever – everything is excellent value – particularly to we Brits who find the cost of shopping in Florida so much cheaper than at home. At the time of writing this there are almost 2 dollars to the £ - making shopping very attractive indeed!
Shopping at Kohls can be fit in to a couple of hours when you have a break in your holiday schedule. No need to drive to a shopping mall, particularly at times when the roads around Disney are busy!
Very close to Kohls, on the opposite side of the Highway 27, is a Walmarts store. This store doesn’t tend to attract tourists as it is slightly off the ‘tourist track’. Why not take the opportunity to stock up on food items – as well as browsing all the other items Walmarts has to offer (is there anything that Walmarts doesn’t sell? ! ! )
If you have a bit more time to spare you could continue up to Clermont to visit the town itself, which is built around a lake. A walk around the lake area is very pleasant indeed! Alternatively, if you head toward Clermont and turn right on to the Highway 50 there are several eateries – a good plan is to end you shopping trip with a meal. The restaurants in this area again tend to be off the ‘tourist track’ and mainly used by the locals. Carrabbas, an Italian restaurant, is one of the very popular ones in this area, (highly recommended by us! ) and you may well be familiar with the one that is located on the Highway 192.
Enjoy!
