Kilimanjaro Safaris
This safari trek covers around 100 lush acres of Savannah, small rivers, and rocky roads, and of course, all is fully inhabited with free roaming animals.
You‘ll board a trackless safari vehicle, where a Bush Pilot and a Wildlife Researcher help narrate your adventure. Be sure to maintain the story for younger travellers it is well done, as is everything Disney, in my opinion.
We have travelled this journey on a number of occasions and have to say that each experience was quite different! If it is a particularly HOT time of year, you will need to go on the earlier (or later) safaris without doubt, but having been on it at least 5 times, the last was without doubt the best ever for animal spotting, as we turned a corner we were lucky to face a group giraffes who were so close to the vehicle you could touch them!! I guess over time the animals that are allowed to get THAT close to the trucks are becoming more accustomed to the daily routine and therefore are getting braver, all good for visitors
Festival of the Lion King
This show is an absolute MUST when visiting the Animal Kingdom Park! I think this could actually be one of our favourite shows of ALL the Disney parks, and nothing compares to the VERY first time you see it! It is performed in a covered, seated pavilion and is an incredible performance that combines the pageantry of a parade with the excitement of a tribal celebration.
The audience are encouraged by tribal hosts in 4 corners of the pavilion to take part ,making noises like the animals of the jungle that they represent (GREAT for the kids!!), and entertaining for the adults too!! Apart from the amazing singing, show and overall colourful spectacle, it is just a completely different experience from other Disney shows, and a little unexpected!
Dinosaur
Now not entirely for the feint hearted, though that said, I am yet to complete such rides as Space mountain, or Tower of Terror, so that probably helps to give you the idea that this is an OK scary ride!!
One minute you're entering the Dino Institute to study creatures that roamed the earth long ago, and the next you're “hurtling” back 65 million years to rescue the last dinosaur from extinction! This suspense-filled thrill ride brings you face to face with huge dinosaurs as a fiery asteroid hurtles toward Earth, bringing destruction in its wake. The main comment about this one, would be that it is pretty much in the dark, so until you have been on it a few times (I have now!), it is probably that, coupled with the unknown, that really adds to the impact of this thrill ride!!
I have to say it is now one of my favourites, and NOT always the busiest of attractions either, possibly because unless you have done your homework, it looks a little inconspicuous! My advice, give it a go!
